Products used for this nail art:

1. Loreal color riche black swan nail polish.

2. VOV grey nail polish.

3. Viviana nail enamel- yellow

4. Viviana nail enamel metallic brown.

5. Cheap turquoise glitter polish.

6. Revlon color stay top coat.

7. Ranara base coat.

8. Lakme absolute nude glow gel nail color.

Apply ranara base coat to protect your natural nails. Don’t miss out on this step especially when you are dealing with dark nail polishes.

Step One: Paint your nails black using the Loreal color riche black swan nail polish. Allow it to dry.

Step Two: Using a sponge, dab VOV grey nail polish similarly to what we do in gradient nails. (check gradient nails tutorial here) However here we just dab on little portions of the nail.

Step Three: Now using another sponge dab some yellow nail polish over the grey. And some metallic brown polish around it. Allow it to dry. (Tip: Using tweezers to hold the sponge makes the application easier)

Step Four: Using a toothpick dipped in Lakme Nude Glow Gel color, randomly make many tiny dots. Make a few large dots too. These will make the stars.

Step Five: Apply glitter polish over the entire nail for a starry and shiny look.You can use clear glitter too! I used what I have

Finish with a top coat to seal in your design!Applying is top coat is essential because it will make your nail art smoother !

Products used for this nail art:

1. OPI Pink friday Nail polish.

2. Lakme absolute Nude glow gel color.

5. Tape and scissors.

6. Dotting tools and toothpicks.

Step One: Apply base coat to protect your natural nails.

Step Two: Cut the end of a tape into a semicircular shape. You can also use other round tapes such as corn tape or manicure strips to do this.

Step Three: Place The circular tape at thee base of your nail and paint your nails with two coats of Pink Friday nail polish. Allow to dry.

Step Four: Using a dotting tool dipped in Lakme nude glow nail polish make random dots over the painted area.

Step Five: Make ‘U’ and ‘C’ around the white dots using a toothpick dipped in black nail polish. Make few random dots too. This step is similar to what we did in the cheetah french tips manicure.

Step Six: Apply top coat to finish and seal in your design.

These leopard half moon nails look really pretty..just try it out and let me know the end results!

I absolutely love glitter polish and wanted to go something good for the 17th challenge of the 31 day nail art challenge!As you know I’ve already don’t gradient nails in my earlier challenge, but that was using regular polish. So, if you have even a little knowledge in nail polishes you will know that it almost impossible to do ombre nails using the glitter polish and sponge method. So I’m going to show you another way of doing gradient nails which is equally easy!

Products used for this nail art:

1. Cheap turquoise glitter polish

2. Ranara base coat (essential)

3. Asepta top coat.

Step One: Apply base coat to protect your natural nails. Never miss the base coat when dealing with glitter nail polish.

Step Two:Apply a layer of your glitter polish which starts almost at the base of your nail. How ever I prefer to leave a little space around the base.

Step Three: Now once the first coat is dry, apply another layer of glitter polish starting from the middle half of your nail and running towards the tip. Allow it to dry.

Step Four: Apply glitter polish to the tips of your nail. Allow it to dry!

So here we eventually built up more glitter polish around the tip and less near the base thus creating a gradient effect. You can build up more polish if you wish, I’ve done only three coats because i wanted it to be calm and casual and not very very glittery!

Step Five: Finish with a fast drying top coat to seal in your design.

I did a little white wild flower on my ring finger to give it a different look Check my wild flower nail art post to try that.

Its easy yet so sexy! Carry this glitter gradient with a stunning outfit turquoise (such as this one I loved from Lakme Fashion week) and be ready to shine!

Basically my nail art was inspired by my fellow blogger and friend Priyanjana who did a vintage rose nail art.. I wanted to do the same nail art but then thought of giving it a Gone Trendy twist

Things you need:

1. Skin colored nail polish.

2. Lemon yellow nail polish.

3. Red nail polish.

4. Black nail polish.

5. Green nail polish.

6. Dotting tools.

7. Thin paint brush.

8.Top coat. (essential)

Gather everything and begin!

Start with a ranara base coat to protect you natural nails.

Step One: Do a gradient using skin colored and yellow nail polish. If you don’t know how to do it, check my tutorial for gradient nails.

Step Two: Before we start making roses, use a top coat to seal in your gradient design and give you a smooth surface.

Step Three: Using a dotting tool dipped in red nail polish, make random large dots on your nails. Don’t worry if the dots are not perfectly round.

Step Four: Now this is tricky, using a thin paint brush dipped in black nail polish make a ‘U’ at the center of a red dot.

Make another ‘U’ going slightly outwards from the center.

Keep doing small spaced lines in a spiral manner till you finish outlining the red dot.

Step Five: Repeat for all the red dots.

Step Six: Use the brush dipped in green nail polish to make a few leaves here and there.. Don’t over do the leaves,just a few look great.

Step Seven: Seal in your design with a top coat.

Clean up around the edges of your nails and we are ready to flaunt this pretty roses on a sunny day nail art with a cute floral dress!

Things you need:

1. Sky blue nail polish.

2. Dark blue nail polish.

3. Striper brush.

4.White nail polish.

5. Top coat.

Lets begin!

Apply base coat to protect your natural nails.

Step One: Apply two coats of sky blue nail polish to all nails except the ring finger and thumb and allow it to dry. Do french tips for the ring finger and thumb.

Step Two: Using a striper brush dipped in dark blue nail polish, do 3-4 vertical lines over the sky blue polish.

Step Three: Using a dotting tool or toothpick dipped in white nail polish make some frosting for your cupcake in the ring finger and thumb. To do this make a rough triangle over your french tip.

Step Four: Make a red cherry at the top of the frosting using a dotting tool dipped in red nail polish. You can also make sprinklers using different colored polishes.

Step Five: Apply a fast drying top coat to each nail to seal the design in!

3. Loreal color riche rebel blue 610.

4. Asepta top coat.

Today’s challenge was to do gradient nails! Well this was not my first attempt to gradient nails however it was the most successful one. I love this nail art so much right now I just don’t want to let it go..

Things you need:

1. Base coat.

2. White nail polish.

3. Pink nail polish.

4. Plastic.

5. Sponge.

6. Toothpick.

7. Top coat. 

8. Nail polish remover and cotton bud.

Let’s begin!

Step One: Apply base coat to protect your natural nails from staining.

Step Two: Apply two coats of white nail polish and allow it to dry.

Step Three: On a piece of plastic do two thick lines of pink and white polish (as shown in pic).

Step Four: Quickly mix the two lines with the help of a toothpick. You just have to move the toothpick in a circular motion.

Step Five: Press a sponge on this polish and gently dab on your nail. You will have to do this multiple time to get the desired effect.

Step Six: Once you have the desired gradient on your nails,apply top coat to seal the design in.

Step Seven: Clean the cuticle using a cotton bud dipped in nail polish remover.

That is it!! The super awesome and chic pink gradient nails are ready This nail art looks cute on both long and short nails!

This nail art is actually very cute and specially looks even cuter on short nails(well,I don’t have the courage to cut my nails off so you will have to see the tutorial on long nails). I did this same nail art for my friend with very very short nails and it looked adorable on her nails!

Things you need:

1. Base coat.

2. Blue nail polish.

3. Yellow nail polish.

4. Red nail polish.

5. White nail polish.

6. Toothpicks or dotting tool.

7. Top coat.

Lets start.

Step One: Start by applying base coat to protect your natural nails.(I’ve also done some random dabbing of white polish near the cuticle using a sponge to give the effect of clouds)

Step Two: Do a semicircular arch in the middle of the nail(see image), using a toothpick dipped in blue nail polish. Repeat for all nails and allow it to dry.

Step Three: Similarly, do two more arches using toothpicks dipped in yellow and red polish. The semicircles should almost touch each other.

Step Four: Using a dotting tool dipped in white nail polish, do multiple white dots randomly at the tip of each nail. This gives the effect of clouds

Step Five: Finish with a fast drying top coat for a cute finished nail art!

With this post I introduce a new nail art technique called nail taping

Nail taping is basically using a tape to do your designs..its very easy..but can sometimes be time consuming.. 

Here’s how you do this simple nail art using tape:

Things you need:

1. Your favourite nail polish. I have used a purple shade.

2. Cello Tape or Scotch tape.

3. Black nail polish.

4. Bright nail polishes of your choice.

5. Toothpick.

6. Top coat.

Step One: Paint your nails with your favourite nail polish. Do two coats if needed. Allow it to dry.

Step Two: Take a Scotch tape and cut it into triangles. You will need 3-4 such triangles depending on your nail size.

Step Three: Stick the tape triangles to your nail such that a zigzag is formed(see image)

Step Four: Colour the left over tip of the nail with black nail polish. Wait for the polish to dry then just pull the tape off..You can see that a star burst is formed

Repeat for all nails.

Step Five: Using a toothpick fill in the star using a nice bright coloured nail polish.This is optional..I like the coloured star rather than an all black star.Make sure you leave a little black border.

Step Six: Apply top coat for long lasting nail art.

Star burst nail art is ready As I always say its OK to be messy! Clean any mistakes with a cotton bud dipped in nail polish remover.

Important:

1. Allow your base coat to dry completely before applying cello tape or else the nail polish will stick to the tape and you will have to start again.

2. It is OK if your stars are not of the same size.

3. Applying top coat helps the nail paint from chipping. Also it gives a smooth shiny finish to your nail art.

4. I used the same tape triangle again and again so that uniform stars are formed(also because I’m lazy )

You can always purchase a matte top coat which quickly turns your regular polish into matte, but why spend money when you can do the same thing at home

Procedure one:

Take a regular polish in a mixing dish. Take equal quantity of cornflour and mix it with the polish using a toothpick…Apply this mixture and you will see that it gives a matte finish!!

Procedure two:

Apply your regular polish and while its still wet sprinkle some cornflour on it(Make sure you cover the entire nail with cornflour).This process is something similar with what we did in the salt nail art but here,instead of using salt we use cornflour. Allow the polish to dry and then hold your finger under running water. You will see that your polish looks matte now

Procedure three:

Take an old bottle of top coat and add cornflour to the bottle with the help of a toothpick..Shake it well.

This can be used exactly like the matte top coat available in markets..

Procedure four:

Apply one coat of your polish and let it dry..Apply another coat and while it’s still wet, hold it on top of boiling water for few minutes. Make sure you don’t burn yourself, so do this carefully

The steam makes your regular polish turn matte!!magical right?

So if you are bored while boiling water for your tea, just grab your nail polish and start your matte manicure Saves a lot of time!

These are four simple techniques which can be done quickly!
