Try sally hansens ultimate shield rather than a base coat..its much much better…

True…I have used base coat on my nail paint to prevent it from chipping and also to add shine..however, I barely use nail paints etc but these days I am finding my nails pale and not so bright looking.

May be I shall start using products from vellvette to begin with.
